The Club today boasts a healthy membership of both local UK and overseas members. Promoting and encouraging the junior category is also high on the list of the Club's priorities. There is consistently a waiting list for full membership.
Since its earliest beginnings Royal Aberdeen Golf Club has promoted the game, in the Granite City, by bringing major players to the club. Morris, Hagen, Cotton, Lema, Jacklin, Norman, Watson, Els, McIlroy and Rose to name but a few.
In recent years major national and international events have been contested over the classic Balgownie Links, by both professional and amateur, most recently the 2014 AAM Scottish Open. As with many great courses the policy of the club is to keep pace with the modern game and to that end subtle changes are regularly introduced to keep the course interesting and challenging for all categories of golfer. Maintaining and combining tradition and quality is reflected on and off the courses. Extensive renovation within and around the clubhouse in the late 90's has attracted much praise and enhanced the pleasure and comfort of members and visitors alike.
Visitors are made extremely welcome at Royal Aberdeen and welcomed to experience our Championship course, Balgownie Links. The club recommends the course for players holding a handicap of 24 or under due to the testing nature of the course, however the Club can recommend a mixture of tees for the higher handicapper to ensure they enjoy their experience of playing Balgownie.
